Below are answers to some of the questions we hear the most about the Wesabe
Firefox Uploader. If you have a question that isn’t listed or answered to your satisfaction, write us support@wesabe.com.
- Why would I use the Firefox Uploader?
- The Firefox Uploader gives you the ability to download account data
from your bank, credit union, credit card, or other financial institution,
and upload it to Wesabe automatically, regardless of whether the bank provides
an automatic method for transferring account information or not.
The Firefox Uploader also includes the Wesabe Dashboard, a Browser Snapshot feature, and can be expanded to include other useful features in the future.
- What does it mean to ‘record’ a download?
- Wesabe has developed a method to automatically download your account
data by recording a session and then playing it back later. To create a recording
that Wesabe can play back, you download your information once to
‘teach’ Wesabe where to click and what to type, and then
Wesabe repeats the same steps automatically from then on.
- Which financial institutions can work with the Firefox Uploader?
- The Firefox Uploader should allow you to automatically upload your
transaction records from virtually any financial
institution, with the exception of sites that present you with a different
set of choices each time you log in.
- I’ve set up the Firefox Uploader, but
I’m not getting any account updates. Why?
- Every time you restart Firefox, you‘ll need to click the Wesabe
icon to sign in and activate the Firefox Uploader. As long as you have
Firefox open, the Uploader will update your account automatically at the
interval that you set in the options tab.
- Are there any limitations to what the Firefox Uploader can record?
- The Uploader won’t record any actions you make in separate
browser windows. For example, some banks let you choose a date range by
clicking on a calendar that pops up in a different window, and the
Uploader won’t record any selections you make in that window.
Instead, the Uploader can intelligently fill date ranges in based on a
time period that you specify.
- What is the Browser Snapshot feature?
- The Browser Snapshot lets you capture a screenshot image from your
browser, and send it to Wesabe. This is a great way to keep online
receipts and associate them with their transactions.
- Am I sending Wesabe the password for my bank?
- No. Wesabe never has access to your bank passwords in any form. Your
password stays on your computer.
- Does Wesabe use the Firefox password manager?
- No. We don’t employ the Firefox password manager. In order to provide
a higher level of security than the default Firefox password manager, Wesabe stores
its data in a separate storage file, which is encrypted (using AES-256).
- If I remove my account from the Firefox
Uploader, does it also get removed from the Wesabe web site?
- No. Removing the account from the Firefox Uploader will keep it from
automatically updating, but it will still be part of your Wesabe
account.
If you want to delete your account from the web site, do
the following:
- Sign into the Wesabe site (www.wesabe.com).
- From the Accounts tab, click on the name of the account you want
to delete. You’ll get to the account page for that account.
- Hold your mouse over the account name at the top of the page (just
under the “Accounts” tab). You’ll see an
“Edit” button appear. Click the Edit button.
- You’ll see a blue button at the top of the screen with
“Delete Account...” and a trash can on it. That will
delete it from the website.
