Executive Team
Marc Hedlund is
a co-founder and CEO.
When Marc Hedlund caught his bank making sneaky changes to its account terms in order to squeeze more fees from him, he had enough. When searching for a better bank, he was surprised at the number of people who were also dissatisfied. He began to think about how powerful it would be if a community could pool its collective knowledge about businesses so they all could benefit from the best values and experiences. Marc co-founded Wesabe to help people better understand their spending and to foster a community dedicated to helping each other get the most from our money.
Marc was recently an entrepreneur-in-residence at O’Reilly Media. Prior to O’Reilly , he was VP of engineering at Sana Security, an enterprise software startup developing an “immune system” for protecting servers from worms and hackers. Marc co-founded and was CEO of Popular Power, a distributed computing startup. He also founded and led Lucas Online, the internet subsidiary of Lucasfilm, Ltd; was director of engineering at Organic Online; and was CTO at Webstorm, where he wrote one of the Internet’s first shopping cart applications in 1994. Marc is a graduate of Reed College.
Gabriel Griego is Vice President
of Marketing.
Gabriel first discovered Wesabe through a friend who told him about a great new money management site with an amazing community. After joining Wesabe, Gabriel was immediately impressed with the great advice and support the Wesabe community gives each other, as well as the tools Wesabe provides to help people control their finances and save money. One of Gabriel's favorite discussions has been "Paying Off Your Mortgage In Two-Thirds The Time".
Gabriel joined Wesabe in January 2008 after serving for six years as the vice president of sales and marketing for CoolSystems, Inc., makers of the Game Ready Accelerated Recovery System. During his tenure at CoolSystems, Gabriel was responsible for creating the Game Ready brand, as well as planning and executing the launch of the product. Under Gabriel’s leadership, Game Ready's revenue grew into the tens of millions of dollars, and became a widely known brand name amongst sports medicine professionals. Prior to CoolSystems, Gabriel served as the head of sports marketing and brand communication for PowerBar, Inc. One of the first employees at PowerBar, Gabriel spent 11 years helping the company grow from $1 million in annual sales to over $130 million, leading to the eventual acquisition of the company by Nestle.
